Choosing the right construction materials for your home
Cement, steel and bricks make up most of your structure. Here is what to check before you buy.
The materials you choose decide how long your building lasts. Before buying, check that cement is fresh and stored dry, that steel bars carry the correct grade markings, and that bricks are well burnt and uniform in size.
Ask your contractor for test reports on concrete cubes and steel, and keep samples from each delivery. Small checks at the start save expensive repairs later.
